Incubation

Creating and maintaining the correct conditions for the growth of micro-biological cells is vital for the successful diagnosis of some diseases and performing laboratory research into many types of medicines and bioengineering. To do this, prepared cells are placed in an incubator that will control the atmosphere surrounding the cells maintaining temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide and oxygen levels. Such incubators are commonly referred to as CO₂ incubators.

The Gas Data GFM100 series instruments are ideal for the independent checking and calibration of cell incubators. The GFM101 equipped with a single channel infra-red carbon dioxide sensor ranged to measure between zero and ten percent and its standard internal sample pump is capable of quickly confirming that the incubator is maintaining the optimal level of five percent carbon dioxide. By using the GFM121 the oxygen levels can be measured simultaneously making the job very quick and simple.
