Aston University Connection Continues

Goodbye Joe. Hello John.

Following on from from our highly successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Aston’s Institute of Photonic Technologies (AIPT), Gas Data has become a second home for the University’s industrial placement students.

The KTP enabled Gas Data to focus R&D efforts on the development of laser-based optical sensors, which have already been incorporated into new ammonia gas analysers.  It also introduced to the talents of Dan Lee who has risen through the ranks to become our Technical Manager.

Now we are giving Aston students an opportunity to show off their talents and experience all of the ups and downs of working in an innovative small business.

Aston University placements to help product design and R&D

Gas Data says goodbye to Joe Manuana, pictured centre with tie.

In September we bid farewell to Joe Manuana who made an outstanding contribution to many of our recent product designs, including some hush-hush projects that we are only now bringing to the attention of the marketplace.

Following in Joe’s footsteps from Aston we have welcomed John Charlton to the team. John is studying Mechanical Engineering and, like Joe, comes to us for a year’s industrial placement. John is already a competent user of the SolidWorks 3D design tool, which means that he will be able to contribute immediately to the exciting new projects in our R&D pipeline.

Long may our Aston connection continue.
