Landfill Gas Analysers
Landfill gas (LFG) is a naturally occurring by-product of organic material decomposition in landfills. The composition of LFG is typically around 50% CO2 and 50% methane as well as a small amount of other non-methane compounds. Gas produced by landfill is harnessed and deployed much in the same way as biogas as in that I can be fed into an engine to generate power.

What is Landfill Gas?
The production of landfill gas occurs when the organic materials in a landfill begin to decompose, which, over many years can become steady enough that it is possible to harness the gas produced and use it to power generators and produce electricity.
The decomposition of organic waste within landfill adds to the accelerating climate crisis by emitting CO2 and CH4. Repurposing these emissions into a fuel source reduces our reliance of fossil fuels whilst reducing the impact of climate change.
Why does landfill gas need to be monitored?
Landfill gas needs to be monitored as it can provide important advance warnings of underground gas migrations from landfills, which could indicate that control measures have failed. This is damaging because the gas produced by landfills, Methane, is toxic and more harmful to the planet than CO2. By monitoring landfill gas, indicators of any control measure failures can be caught earlier and resolved before the problem becomes hazardous.
Why Use Gas Data Landfill Gas Analysers?
Gas Data products allow the site managers and engineers to log the composition of landfill gas and respond accordingly. The toxic gases are observed to monitor the longevity of the generators while Oxygen is measured to maintain the safety of those on-site.
Analysing the composition is imperative. Gas Data products provide accurate readings in a timely manner, keeping the site equipment running smoothly and the site personnel safe from harm.
